Central Fire Station
Denton, Texas
The shell of an historic 1940's diesel-generated power plant was
utilized to house the new facilities of the Denton Central Fire
Station. The 27,000 square-foot, 5 bay fire station serves as the
City Emergency Operations Center, and the first floor includes a
training/community room, emergency operations, and living quarters.
Adjacent to the vehicle bays are turn-out lockers, a maintenance
shop, and a decontamination room. The second floor serves
Administration and the Fire Prevention Bureau and contains an arson
interrogation room.
The project received five design awards:
Design Award Fort Worth Chapter AIA, 2004 | Preservation Texas

Denton Excellence in Preservation, 2003 | Texas Downtown Association
