City Bank Lubbock Auditorium
KAS designed the renovation and additions to the historic Lubbock City Bank Auditorium located near the Texas Tech University campus. The auditorium is part of a larger entertainment complex, comprised of the auditorium itself and the adjoining coliseum. The updates, which are being performed solely on the auditorium, are the first major changes the facility has seen since it was designed and built in the mid-1950s. When the renovations are complete, the auditorium will have an audience capacity of approximately 2,500. Updates to the infrastructure, as well as the lobby, seating and restrooms will enhance the patron experience while adding more than 15,000 square feet to the auditorium. Changes to the outside include a zinc-clad facade, which will make the exterior of the auditorium more resistant to the intense summer heat, wind, snowfall and other weather events common to Lubbock. KAS partnered with Westlake Reed Leskosky, an architecture firm specializing in cultural and performing arts facilities.
