Ginnings Elementary School
Denton, Texas
The renovations and additions to the school created a fun
environment for the children. A walk through the facility reveals
discoveries such as a corridor of trees, a cloud rotunda, and a
large playful clock at the end of an undulating ceiling. Color coded
stripes on the walls distinguish between different grade levels.
New classrooms, a cafeteria, and an activity center, provided an
additional 22,013 square feet to the existing facility. Renovations
to the existing 16,632 square-foot building provided technology
integration, ADA and life safety codes and improved vehicle/bus
circulation. Relocating the main office at the center of the school
created a corridor "spine" with different areas branching from it,
providing for an orderly flow of students. The renovation received an award from
American School & University Outstanding Building:
Renovation/Modernization, 2002.
