IN addition to 3 1/2 apparatus bays and a crew of nine firefighters, Highland Village's new 13,250 square-foot central fire station houses an Emergency Operations Center and offices for fire administration. The apparatus bays separate the living quarters from the EOC and the administration offices. The building responds to its residential location through its scale and details such as the masonry exterior, landscaping and the metal gabled roof. Many sustainable elements were used to make the station more energy efficient and to provide a healthier living and working environment.
