James R. Kirkpatrick, FAIA
Principal Architect
- Professionally Licensed in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New
Mexico, Louisiana, and Mississippi
- Master of Architecture degree with emphasis in building design,
from Texas A&M University in 1976
- Bachelor of Architecture degree from Texas A&M University
in 1969
Jim has spent the last 30 years building an
architectural practice based on the principals of innovative design,
value and owner satisfaction. As lead architect and CEO, he oversees
all day to day operations including project design, design
development, project management and business development.
Jim makes it a point to be very accessible to
every customer and to work closely with them to bring the project in
on time and within budget.
He firmly believes in giving back to the community
and has been deeply involved with many local projects and civic
organizations.
David M. Robinson, AIA, LEED AP

1997
- Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Southwestern
University
- LEED Accredited Professional
With more than 15 years of architectural and
design related experience, David brings a fresh approach to each new
project. As one of the LEED APs for the firm, he reviews each
project to determine possible sustainability scenarios that the
owner may want to consider.
David also uses his knowledge and skills to
benefit others on construction missions to impoverished areas of
Mexico.
Michael D. Howard
Project Manager
- Manager of Production and Field Operations
- Bachelor of Architecture, University of Texas at Arlington
Michael has worked in architecture and
construction since 1978. He has led construction administration and
construction management for KAS for more than 20 years. His hands-on
approach to construction insures that the project is always
monitored closely and that issues are handled promptly and
professionally. Michael makes regular job-site visits and also
oversees the production of Construction Documents.

Tim Deaton
Project Manager
- Bachelor of Environmental Design, Texas A&M University
- Tau Sigma Delta Honor Society for Architecture
Tim joined KAS after graduation and is an integral
part of the design and production team. He prepares Construction
Documents and has worked as management leader on several projects.
He also constructs 3-D building models for presentations.
Jose Gonzalez
Technical Staff
- Bachelor of Architecture, Universidad de Guanajuato, Mexico
Jose began his architectural career in 1980 and is
a registered architect in Mexico. He joined Jim Kirkpatrick on a
project at the Universidad de Celaya in the early 1990's and was
asked to join the KAS team at the completion of the project in 1996.
Jose is instrumental in the production of Construction Documents and
is dedicated to the timely completion of projects.
Stacy Huckabay
Interiors
- American Business College, Lubbock, Texas
Stacy joined KAS in February 2004 and has been
influential with projects involving design, specification documents,
interior planning, construction documents, and has led construction
projects.
Angela Atkins
Interior Design
- Bachelor of Interior Design, Texas Tech University, Lubbock,
Texas
After completing her education at Texas Tech
University with a Bachelor of Interior Design and a Minor in
Architecture, Angela gained experience at an interior design firm
working with some of the largest hotel chains in the country. Since
joining Kirkpatrick Architecture Studio, Angela's experience has
ranged from private financial institutions, to the renovation of
retail space, to working with municipalities. Angela assists with
the coordination of the interior space to enhance the aesthetics of
everything from private office spaces to common, lobby areas.
Alan Thetford
Technical Staff
- Bachelor of Environmental Design, Texas A & M University
- LEED Accredited Professional
Alan is integral in the creation of site plans,
floor plans, elevations and perspectives for graphic presentations
to clients and owners. He also works to ensure that LEED
requirements and specifications are met on projects seeking USGBC
certification. Additionally, if an owner is not seeking LEED
certification, Alan will find cost-effective sustainable elements
where applicable. Alan completed his Bachelor of Environmental
Design degree from Texas A & M University, and will return to
school to complete his Masters Degree in Architecture.
