James R. Kirkpatrick, FAIA

Artist. Architect. Adventurer. Jim’s enthusiasm for “ARTchitecture” and community impact influences every design he creates.

Jim founded Kirkpatrick Architecture Studio, not only to pursue his love of architecture, but his love of art as well. He is fascinated by how the smallest details in both mediums can contribute to the greatest masterpieces when viewed as a whole. He demonstrates this tremendous level of care and precision in each building he creates through timeless design, resulting in landmark structures recognized for their beauty and functionality.

Though his 50 years of architectural experience would make him an expert by anyone’s standards, Jim has continued to study the intricacies of architecture in the United States and abroad. In 2009, Jim was welcomed into the College of Fellows of the AIA, “the highest membership honor given to architects for their exceptional work and contributions to architecture and society.” Today, he remains active in his namesake firm, leading specialty projects. When he is not at the office, he can be found spending time with his family, which includes his wife, Glenna, four daughters, and five grandchildren. Jim’s musical talents include playing the guitar, and he and Glenna enjoy traveling to Europe with friends.
